Verifi RDR and CDRN — Visa's pre-chargeback toolkit
Rapid Dispute Resolution for rule-based auto-refunds. CDRN for manual resolution inside 72 hours. Both close the dispute at the issuer — neither counts as a chargeback.
Verifi is owned by Visa and runs two distinct pre-chargeback flows. CDRN (Cardholder Dispute Resolution Network) routes Visa disputes to the merchant for manual resolution within 72 hours. RDR (Rapid Dispute Resolution) automatically refunds eligible disputes based on rules you configure — zero manual intervention, zero chargeback counted.
For any merchant processing meaningful Visa volume, Verifi is non-negotiable. Visa's VAMP program (the 2025 replacement for VFMP) tightens dispute thresholds further each year. RDR is the cleanest path to staying under those thresholds at scale.
ApexPay FZ-LLC is a payments consultancy — we introduce merchants to licensed acquirers, gateways and alert networks, and we do not process payments or hold funds.
RDR — Rapid Dispute Resolution
RDR fires when a Visa dispute is initiated and your pre-configured rules match. The refund is issued automatically via your acquirer, the cardholder is credited, and the dispute is closed — all without anyone at your business touching it. RDR rules are configured at the MID, BIN, amount and reason-code level.
Auto-refund all disputes under $X — typical for subscription and digital merchants.
Auto-refund all 'fraud' reason codes on new-customer transactions.
Auto-refund all disputes on declined/cancelled subscriptions to close the loop cleanly.
Per-BIN overrides for known high-dispute issuers.
CDRN — Cardholder Dispute Resolution Network
CDRN routes Visa disputes to ApexPay's chargeback team (or yours) for manual resolution within 72 hours. We refund, push back with evidence (Order Insight), or contact the cardholder directly. CDRN is the right choice for high-AOV merchants and physical goods, where representment win rates often justify fighting rather than refunding.
Order Insight — pre-dispute deflection
Visa Order Insight surfaces your transaction detail inside the cardholder's banking app, inline, before they ever raise a dispute. We feed descriptor, order line items, delivery info, IP, device and 3DS data into the Visa pipeline so cardholders recognise the transaction and never dispute in the first place.

Frequently asked questions
Does RDR cost more per dispute than a chargeback?
RDR resolutions are priced per resolved dispute — typically $5–$15. A chargeback costs $15–$100 in network fees plus the lost transaction plus the CB ratio impact. RDR is almost always net-positive for any merchant above 0.5% dispute rate.
Can I run RDR and CDRN at the same time?
Yes — they are complementary. RDR handles the rules-eligible bucket automatically; CDRN routes everything else for manual resolution. Most merchants run both for full coverage.
Will Visa let me set RDR rules that auto-refund 100% of disputes?
Yes, technically — but it's rarely the right design. We typically cap auto-refund at thresholds where the cost of refund < cost of fighting + chargeback risk. Above those thresholds, CDRN with evidence wins more cases than blanket auto-refund saves.
How fast can RDR go live?
Typical enrolment is 5–10 business days per acquirer once Visa onboarding paperwork is complete. We configure your rules in parallel so day-one of live processing is fully automated.
